Steven Jessen-Howard

Steven Jessen-Howard is a Staff Attorney at the Center. His work focuses on the Education and Kin & Relative Caregivers Projects.

Steven’s passion for improving the law to better serve children and families stems from his experiences as a volunteer at a shelter for families experiencing homelessness. Before joining the Center, Steven researched child care policy at the Center for American Progress. During law school, he advocated for children's right to counsel as an intern with the National Association of Counsel for Children, provided legal assistance to young people with Community Legal Services of Philadelphia’s Youth Justice Project, and promoted foster youth’s access to federal benefits with the Children’s Advocacy Institute. Steven received his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame in 2018 and his J.D. from Temple University in 2023.

Outside of work, Steven enjoys running, playing soccer, and making his own ice cream.
